How to Live Out Your Purpose

How to Live Out Your Purpose

God’s Word is the place I go when I am looking for instruction about how to live my life. While I’m on this process of pursuing the purpose God has given me during this season of my life, I have to be fully committed to the process or I won’t get where God wants me to go.

Proverbs 4:20-27 has some great insight about fully committing ourselves to the process of living out our purpose. The writer uses references to individual body parts to show us that our whole being must be committed.

These are a few of my favorite references from the English Standard Version:

v. 20 incline your ear to my sayings

v. 23 keep your heart with all vigilance

v. 24 put away crooked speech

v. 25 let your eyes look directly forward

v. 26 turn your foot away from evil

When I read all these verses together, I can see how each part of my body is needed to make sure I am living out my purpose. If my mouth says one thing, but my heart isn’t fully committed, then I’m not going to be able to live out my purpose. Or, if I decide to do my own thing without “inclining my ear to” what God wants to say to me, then I will be hindered in my progress.

I challenge you to read Proverbs 4:20-27 today and see how you can begin to commit your whole self to the process of following God’s purpose for you.
