Attitude Is Everything

Attitude is everything

We are just two short weeks into the new year, and I already feel behind. You too?

I went to bed last night with a plan and woke up this morning not in the mood I needed to be to execute that plan. In fact, I’m just now writing this blog post at 10:07 this morning because I didn’t have one ready to go for today.

It’s hard when my purpose is helping women discover their purpose and leading them to learn how to live it out. The live it out part comes with time management. So, when I’m writing about that, I’m holding myself out there as an expert.

Well, let me set the record straight…I am by no means perfect in doing anything I write about. My hope is that as I share my struggles and what works for me, many others will benefit and learn from my mistakes.

This morning as I was trying to get motivated to do something, I watched a Scope by Crystal Paine, The Money Saving Mom. She talked about the #1 thing that is killing your success.

That one thing is belief that you can’t.

It’s as simple as that. When you feel you are stuck and  believe you can’t do something, you won’t be successful.

Here are a few tips she shared on how to overcome that unbelief:

1. Replace “I can’t” with “what’s possible?”

Attitude is everything when it comes to our success. If we constantly tell ourselves we can’t do something, then we’ll never be successful. Instead, we need to ask ourselves “what’s possible” in the situation that has us stuck.

2. Surround yourself with positive people.

We need cheerleaders in our lives. Those people who can tell us honestly that we can do something. If you are surrounded by people who are negative all the time, you will be brought down. Find people who can encourage, inspire, and motivate you.

3. Tell yourself the truth.

This one struck home with me. I’m constantly listening to the voices in my head that say I’m not enough, I’m not good at anything, or I’m a failure. I have to battle these voices every day.

One way to get away from these voices is to replace the lies with truth. God’s Word is filled with verses that tell us of His great love for us. We have to stop believing the lies.

4. Remind yourself of success stories.

Think about times when you have been successful in difficult situations. Remember the times God has led you through hard circumstances. Look at how God has been at work in other’s lives.

Recalling these success stories fuels our faith and reminds us of God’s faithfulness to us.

5. Focus on the next step.

If you are so stuck you don’t know what to do, focus on the next thing that needs to be done.

This morning I had a choice. I could either give in to my feelings of discouragement and waste my day, or I could do the next thing which involved writing this blog post.

After being encouraged by Crystal’s Scope, I decided to ask myself “what’s possible?” Then, I had my quiet time with God where He reaffirmed my purpose to help women. He reminded me that there is at least one person who reads my blogs that is struggling just like I am. So, I needed to fulfill my purpose and share what I learned.

I hope this helps you today wherever you may be. I pray God will show you the truth about yourself and help you to move forward in the purpose He has given you.

    1. It’s hard to get going because I have too many interruptions right now. Hopefully things will settle down soon so I can get into a good routine.
